Mumbai Indians won their previous match against Perth Scorchers in emphatic style as they chased down a decent total of 149 runs in just 13.2 overs even though they needed to chase it in 14.2 to qualify for the semis. Apart from Tendulkar, who fell for a second-ball duck, all of the Mumbai batsmen were in-form as their skipper Rohit Sharma guided them to a much-needed win. Opener Dwayne Smith who has scored 63* and 48 in the last two matches will once again be a key wicket as he often gets his side to a rollicking start through his lusty blows. The only concern for Mumbai would be the form of Tendulkar as well as their bowlers. In absence of Malinga, the bowlers have been pretty ordinary in the series and today would be a big day for someone like Mitchell Johnson to prove that he still has what it requires to be a permanent member of the Australian squad. Trinidad and Tobago are the only IPL team to have made it to the top four of the tournament. They too would be high on confidence after they convincingly defeated a champion side like the Chennai Super Kings. Led by Ravi Rampaul and Sunil Narine, their bowling attack did a wonderful job by restricting Chennai’s star-studded batting line-up to just 118 runs. Capitalising on the effort made by the bowlers, Trinidad openers Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis got their side to a great start as they added 79 runs for the first wicket off just 10.1 overs. They would be hoping for a similar performance against Mumbai, who are equally confident to seal their ticket for the final. The winner will be up against the Rajasthan Royals who thrashed Chennai Super Kings in the second semi-final to advance in the final scheduled to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Sunday.
