Egypt, Tunisia suffered for being servile to US: Iran’s Khamenei Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the main cause of the protests of the Tunisian and Egyptian nations was the humiliation they suffered due to their governments' servitude to the United States.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks at Friday prayers at the Tehran University campus, in reference to the popular protests which have recently occurred in certain Arab countries.

During his sermon, the leader called Mubarak the "servant" of Israel and the United States.

He told worshippers, "For 30 years, this country (Egypt) has been in the hands of someone who is not only not seeking freedom, but himself is the enemy of the quest for freedom. Not only is he not anti-Zionist, but he is the companion, colleague, confidant, and in a sense, the servant of the Zionists."

The ex-Tunisian president Zine al Abidine Ben Ali was also linked to the US and there are reports which show he had connections with the Central Intelligence Agency, the leader added.

However, western countries are making efforts to deflect the world's attention from the main cause of the uprisings saying they occurred due to economic problems, Khamenei stated.

He also described the developments in the Arab world as the "echoes of the voice of the Iranian nation”.

This is the Islamic awakening that "was always talked about at the time of the victory of the great Islamic Revolution of Iran”, he added.

With all my respect, we told you man, two years ago, dont try to interfere in tunisia affairs, you didnt want to listen, look now what happened in tunisia...you better look to what is happening in your own country before you try to influence other regimes, cauz yours doesnt look very happy either...tunisians were not fighting for or against any one, they were just asking for freedom and human rights, employment and better life conditions...we will not replace a dictatorship by another dictatorship, no way

Being an America citizen I once believed in America until I realized how Hypocritical, Abusive, and Dishonest America is. I never really trusted America since the 60`s but between The Shrub family and Wiki leaks the real America has been exposed and anyone who trusts America has to be insane. I hope the Egyptian people win thier fight and I hope people all over the world rise up against Hypoctitical, Unjust, and Murdering goverments world wide including America. It is time for governments to be transparent and honest with thier people and begin to treat them fairly. I think the day of the one percent of rich people ruling the world are getting closer to the end. This is the information age and people are being educated as to what is really happening in this world.

A rally in favor of iran`s running govt proved the conspiracy of west. It was better if you would have quoted about democratically won govt of Hamas and down by west.

perhaps the iranian ayatollah is right about
egypt and tunisia being under the servitude
of the united states, but he fails to mention
what happened in his own country when protesters there refused to accept the rigged election of the present president. they
were severely beaten, put in prison, tortured
there, given show trials, and even taken to the gallows and hung unmercifully. since the start of 2011, iran has hanged 66 people for goodness
knows what. while i support the people`s public protests in the arab world even while i happened
to be inside tunisia at the start of the jasmine revolution and in danger of getting hurt there, i would also support renewed protests in iran to replace the present dictatorship in tehran. what is good for the goose is good for the gander, yes?
