Paris: Europe needs new security procedures, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said.
"I am not satisfied with these procedures because Europe
has changed after the Helsinki Act, and it is necessary to
create a new framework for the security system. We are at the
very beginning of the road," Medvedev said at a joint press
conference with French President Nicolas Sarkozy yesterday.
During Medvedev's visit two key agreements were also
signed at the Elysee Palace.
Russia's Federal Migration Service Director Konstantin
Romadanodvsky and his French counterpart Eric Besson signed an
executive protocol between the governments of Russia and
France on the implementation of the agreement on readmission
between Russia and the European Union of May 25, 2006.
Russian Railways Company CEO Vladimir Yakunin,
Transmashkholding Bard of Directors Chairman Andrei Tokarev
and Alstom CEO and President Patrick Kron, and Alstom
Transport Philippe Mellier signed a protocol on the
acquisition by Alstom of 25 per cent of share sin
Transmashkholding, and on technological and production
cooperation between Alstom, Transmashkholding and Russian
Railways.
The agreements were signed in the presence of Dmitry
Medvedev and Nicolas Sarkozy.
Alstom plans to acquire 25 per cent plus one share in
Transmashkholding. It will pay for the shares in two portions:
the first one of USD 75 million will be paid after the signing
of the contract, and the second one, the size of which is not
known yet, three years after that.
