Ex-chief of China`s N-firm gets life for corruption

Kang Rixin was punished for accepting about $1 mn in bribes between 2004-09.

Beijing: A Chinese court on Friday sentenced the former head of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) to life imprisonment for corruption, reports Xinhua.

Kang Rixin, former general manager of CNNC, was punished for accepting about USD 1 million in bribes between 2004 and 2009, the Beijing No 1 intermediary court said in a statement.

Kang, 57, was deprived of his political rights for life and his personal assets were confiscated.

The sentence was lighter because Kang cooperated with the investigators and returned all his ill-gotten gains.

Kang became a member of the Communist Party of China`s (CPC) Central Committee in October 2007.

He was stripped of his post and membership for "serious violations of the law and discipline breaches" in December 2009.
