Jerusalem: In what sounds as an intimidating warning for Israel, a former chief of Israeli spy agency Mossad, has cautioned Iran not to take lightly the Israeli threats of attacking its nuclear facilities.
Ephraim Halevy, who left Mossad a decade ago, said to an Israeli Radio, "If I were an Iranian, I would be very worried about the Israeli talk about a possible attack, because Israel`s threats sound serious and credible to me".
Halevy also said that the next 12 weeks will be very crucial regarding Israeli decision to attack Iran’s nuke facilities, which according to Israel are covertly trying to make nuclear weapons.
Iran has remained adamant on its stance, reiterating that its Uranium enrichment is solely for the peaceful purpose of producing energy and has nothing to do with nuclear bombs.
Both Israel and US doubt that and fear Iran is covertly making nuclear weapons.
Israel has shown displeasure and dissatisfaction over the fruitless nuclear talks with Iran and other diplomatic efforts by the US to tackle Iran over its nuke programme.
Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier this week that Israel hasn`t decided whether to strike Iran. But he said that time was running fast and meanwhile Iranians were constantly enriching Uranium, delaying more and more under the pretext of nuclear talks.
Though US is against a military strike in recent future, given the country is gearing up for the Presidential polls in November. However, yesterday, US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and sounded tough when he warned Iran saying, "If they continue and if they proceed with a nuclear weapon. We have other options, and we are prepared to implement them”.
"Iran must either negotiate acceptable limits on its nuclear programme or face the possibility of US military action to stop it from getting the bomb," Panetta was quoted by Ha`aretz online as saying.
