Canberra: Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is preparing to celebrate the first anniversary of his political ousting by hosting an "Assassination Day" party at his two million dollar mansion.
Details of the bizarre party emerged as Prime Minister Julia Gillard``s office reportedly gagged him from talking to the media after a week of him dominating the headlines, News.com.au reports.
Rudd and wife Therese Rein are preparing to mark the anniversary of his toppling with a bash at their home just a stone`s throw from The Lodge in the nation`s capital.
The party for former and current staff fulfils a promise Rudd made a year ago after his staff threw him fully clothed into the Lodge``s swimming pool during an impromptu party on the night he was dumped by the Australian Labour Party caucus.
The Liberal Party will mark the anniversary with a new “Lemon, Lime and Bitter” television and Internet advertising blitz building on last year``s Kevin-O-Lemon campaign.
The new ads feature Greens leader Bob Brown as a winking lime that runs the show, Rudd as a bandaged lemon and Gillard leaving families with “a bitter taste”.
