Karachi: While remarking that Pakistan Parliament`s resolution on Yemen was the nation`s internal matter, Saudi Arabia Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz has said that his country expected better from Pakistan.
Abdul Aziz arrived in Pakistan on Sunday, along with a five-member delegation, to discuss the situation in Yemen and to further ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, reported the Dawn.
After the Saudi-led coalition launched offensive against Shia Houthi rebels in conflict-torn Yemen, Pakistan has been under immense pressure from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to provide military support in the region.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has held several high-level meetings with civil and military officials to take a call on Pakistan`s involvement in the conflict. While Islamabad has stated that it will defend Yemen`s "territorial integrity," it is yet to commit troops to the Saudi-led offensive in the region.
A joint session of the Parliament summoned by Sharif on Friday to discuss Pakistan`s involvement in Yemen crisis called for Pakistan to take a "neutral stance" in the war.
