Havana: Cuban media say Fidel Castro donned an olive-green shirt and travelled to a town west of Havana to participate in an event honouring fallen fighters in his revolution.
This is the first time state media have reported Castro leaving Havana since he underwent emergency intestinal surgery in July 2006 and gave up power.
A picture from yesterday's ceremony at Artemisa is posted on a state media website showing Castro in green, although his shirt does not have the stars and insignia of the military uniform he wore for nearly a half century as Cuba's president.
He has usually been seen wearing only exercise clothing since falling ill.
