Dhaka: Five alleged robbers were lynched
to death by a mob after they looted the house of an affluent
villager at suburban Narsingdi district in Bangladesh, days
after a similar incident.
Some 12 robbers were fleeing the scene early in the
morning when some residents in the neighbourhood raised an
alarm using the megaphone of a nearby mosque, a local
"The robbers tried to make their way exploding
crackers but the mob in a desperate move continued to chase
them and eventually caught five of the gang they died on the
spot," he said.
The incident came just three days after angry people
lynched five suspected robbers after they raided a cell phone
shop and took the salesmen hostage at gunpoint at southwestern
Bangladesh media reported several such incidents of
lynching or mass beating from different areas in recent months
amid reports of deteriorating law and order.
