Veracruz: A Mexican newspaper says a gunman killed its police beat reporter outside his home in southern Oaxaca state.
The newspaper Buen Tono published a story on Monday on its website saying reporter Octavio Rojas was shot to death in the town of Cosolapa, where he lived.
Relatives told the newspaper Rojas was shot by a man who entered his home asking to see a car the 35-year-old reporter was selling.
The newspaper is based in the city of Cordoba in Veracruz state. It says Rojas covered police stories and the area along the Veracruz-Oaxaca state line. Rojas was also the spokesman for Cosolapa`s city council.
The press freedom group Article 19 says the newspaper has been threatened several times since 2011, including having its offices set on fire by gunmen.
