`Haley and Harris to be watched out for in 2013`

Nikki Haley and Kamala Harris, have been named among the 12 `Power Women` to watch out for in 2013 by Forbes magazine.

New York: Two prominent Indian-American women, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and California Attorney General Kamala Harris, have been named among the 12 `Power Women` to watch out for in 2013 by Forbes magazine.

Forbes, which releases an annual list of 100 most powerful women in the world, said there are several "amazing" women who do not make it to the list but are the "not-yet-power women waiting in the wings".

The publication said it "has had our eye" on Haley, 40, since her election in 2010.

Haley is "especially notable this year as she`s been selected to deliver a keynote at the Republican National Convention, a gig politicos see as an indicator that she`s being groomed for a plum party position down the road," Forbes said.

The Indian American was the first female to be elected governor of South Carolina in 2010.
Currently the youngest serving governor in the country, Forbes said Haley is among the most powerful women in the GOP.

Haley had publicly stated she would refuse Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney to be his running-mate in the 2012 presidential elections but she has not "ruled out" her own 2016 run for commander-in-chief.

Forbes said the big break for Harris, 47 came when she served as the District Attorney for San Francisco from 2004-2011.

She scored a huge victory in July when California State Legislature passed the Homeowner Bill of Rights, which provides strong protection to homeowners left vulnerable by the housing market collapse.

"Harris has been outspoken in her continued insistence that the housing bust was criminal in nature," Forbes said.

Others in the list include founder of women`s shape wear company Spanx Sara Blakely, writer, director and actress Lena Dunham, Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and TV anchor and cancer survivor Robin Roberts.
