Mexico city: A helicopter crash in eastern
Mexico left seven people dead, including five police officers,
after officials delivered two inmates to a prison, the federal
prosecutor`s office said.
"There were seven dead, including the pilot, co-pilot and
five police officers," an official told a news agency on condition of
anonymity, adding that there were two survivors.
An earlier statement said the helicopter was carrying 11
passengers, but the prosecutor`s office said two prisoners
being transported in the government helicopter had already
been delivered at the prison before the helicopter crashed.
The helicopter went down in the Veracruz state, some 250
kms east of Mexico City.
The official said the crash was likely related to heavy
fog in the area at the time of the crash.
