House of helicopter crash victim`s sister burgled
London: The house of the sister of a pedestrian who was killed in a helicopter crash in central London this week has been burgled while she was mourning the death of her brother with relatives.
The helicopter had crashed into a crane atop St George Wharf Tower, one of Europe`s tallest residential blocks in central London, killing two people, including a 39-year-old pedestrian named Matthew Wood, and injuring 13 others, as it plunged to the ground during rush hour on Wednesday.
Matthew, from Sutton, south London, had been walking to work at Rentokil on Wednesday morning when he was hit by the debris.
Amanda Wood returned home on Thursday, the day after her brother Matthew was killed in Vauxhall, to find her house had been ransacked.
Amanda was at her brother Darren`s house "so the family could all be in one place to give each other support" when her home was targeted.
"It`s horrible. It has been the worst week of my life. It`s absolutely gutting," Amanda was quoted by the BBC as saying.
Amanda said she was told about the break-in when a neighbour called her and said they were around her house in Carshalton, Surrey, with the police.
No arrests have been made.
Amanda said that her mother has been struggling to cope with the tragedy, which came close to the first anniversary of her husband`s death.
Helicopter pilot Peter Barnes, 50, from Mortimer, near Reading, Berkshire, who had more than 20 years of flying experience, also died in the crash.
The Agusta Westland 109 helicopter had clipped the crane on the side of the St George Wharf Tower ahead of making an unscheduled landing in Battersea because of the fog.
