Hungary makes Dalai Lama honorary citizen

Tibetan spiritual leader stresses on the importance of peace and dialogue.

Budapest: Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, was made an honorary citizen of Budapest during his seventh visit to the Hungarian capital, where he is on a three-day tour.

He stressed the importance of peace and dialogue as he accepted the honour from Budapest`s Mayor Gabor Demszky.

He also gave lectures on Saturday at the Laszlo Papp Stadium.

On Monday, the Dalai Lama will meet with members of the Hungarian Parliament and the Hungary-Tibet Friendship Association.

He will also meet with the vice-president of the European Parliament Laszlo Tokes.

The Dalai Lama`s last visit to Budapest was in 2000.
