Over two-thirds of Americans believe that immigration reform should be a priority during President Barack Obama’s second term, according to a poll.

Washington: Over two-thirds of Americans believe that immigration reform should be a priority during President Barack Obama’s second term, according to a poll.
The HuffPost/YouGov poll, covering 1,000 US adults, showed that 55 percent said stricter enforcement of unauthorized immigration should be the primary focus of reform.
While 28 percent who said it should be integrating undocumented immigrants into American society, the Huff Post reports.

According to the report, Democrats were more likely to say integration should be the priority, which aligns with the party``s political leaders.

Obama and Democrats in the House and Senate have said immigration reform must include a pathway to legal status for undocumented immigrants already in the country, while also preventing future unauthorized immigration.

According to the report, poll respondents differed on the matter of young people who came to the United States as children, the focus of the Dream Act.

When asked if they supported providing those undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship if they attended college or served in the military, slightly less than half said yes, while 30 percent said they would oppose such a policy.
