Singapore: An Indian national from Punjab has become the latest casualty in a spate of shootings in Davao City of the Philippines, according to a media report on Saturday.
Ramandeep Singh Gill, 30, a resident of Matina Aplaya in the Philippines and a native of Punjab, was gunned down by unidentified armed men at Old Emars Beach Resort at 3.30 am yesterday, police said.

Talomo police chief Julius Silagan identified the victim. An investigation established that Gill was found lying in a pool of blood by local residents at 8 am, the Sun Star news website reported.

The residents said they had heard a gunshot at 3:30 am.

Police suspect the motive for the killing may have been a past grudge. Police are also looking into the possibility that Gill may have tried to fight back while being robbed.

Investigators did not find any empty shells from the attacker`s weapon. They found a .357 revolver just a metre from the victim but are yet to confirm if the weapon was owned by Gill.

Gill was the 38th victim of a shooting in Davao City since July 1. Thirty-two victims were killed by unidentified suspects while the other six were suspects who died while resisting arrest in police operations.
