Tehran: Iran`s opposition leader has
denounced the country`s ruling system as `totalitarian`
similar to Stalin`s Soviet regime.
Mir Hossein Mousavi said in the message posted on
opposition websites today that lying to its own people is the
government`s most outstanding feature.
The message comes as the government has stepped up its
campaign against opposition leaders, calling them traitors.
Tehran`s chief prosecutor said last month that it was
only a matter of time before they are put on trial for the
unrest following the disputed 2009 presidential election.
Hundreds of opposition supporters have been arrested
in the fierce crackdown that following the election, which the
opposition claimed hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won
by vote fraud.
