Tehran: Iranian government will demand compensation for the damage that the nation sustained during World War II, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.
He said Iran went through a foreign occupation during the war although it had declared neutrality.
Speaking in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas yesterday, Ahmadinejad also made a hint at the 1943 Teheran Conference, indicating that Iran was the venue where the allied powers reached an agreement on opening the Second Front against Germany, which led to a conclusive victory in the war.
Mehr news agency quoted him as saying the government had set up a workgroup to calculate the damage sustained in wartime.
The group will be expected to draw up the sum that the Iranian nation will expect to be paid as a compensation.
