New Delhi: Days after an airstrike on jihadist leaders in Iraq sparked rumours of Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi being injured oe killed, the militant group on Thursday released an audio recording of its head.

In the 17-minute message, the speaker, purported to be Baghdadi, made no direct reference to the alleged strike against IS leadership but said that IS fighters will fight till the end "even if only one soldier remains".

The BBC reports that the released audio appears to be authentic.

There were reports last week that the Islamic State chief Baghdadi was killed or got injured in an US-led airstrike near the Iraqi city of Mosul.
