Washington: The Islamic State has released another video purporting to show the beheading of UK hostage Alan Henning, the fourth such brutal killing by the terror group.

Shortly after the release of the video, British Prime Minister David Cameron expressed his condolence to the family.

He said that his “thoughts and prayers” are with the family of Henning and would do everything possible “to hunt down these murderers and bring them to justice.”

Henning's wife had earlier made an appeal for the release of her husband.

The video shows the 47-year-old on his knees dressed in orange prison-style outfit standing next to a militant covered in black.

Henning was kidnapped around 10 months ago while he was driving an aid convoy to Syria for Muslim charity Aid4Syria.

26-year-old Kassig is an Iraq war veteran and is seen wearing an orange jumpsuit in the recent video.

The masked man in the video says, “Obama, you have started your aerial bombardment in (Syria) which keeps on striking our people, so it is only right that we continue to strike the necks of your people."

The authenticity of the video is yet to be verified.

Meanwhile, the beheading has drawn shocked reactions from across the world.

US President Barack Obama called Henning's death condemned the murder. He added that Henning worked towards improving the lives of Syrian people and his death will be a loss for them as well as his family and friends.

"Standing together with our UK friends and allies, we will work to bring the perpetrators of Alan's murder, as well as the murders of Jim Foley, Steven Sotloff and David Haines, to justice. Standing together with a broad coalition of allies and partners, we will continue taking decisive action to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL," Obama reportedly said.

Deputy Prime Minister of UK, Nick Klegg, said that the “barbaric acts of ISIL are held in contempt. We are resolved to defeat this evil.”

Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britian also condemned the brutal murder and called it a “despicable and offensive act.” He added that Henning helped Muslims and that his thoughts and prayers are with the family.
