Caracas: The threat of plans to assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is still latent,
journalist Jose Vicente Rangel stated.

On his Sunday program, broadcast by Venezolana de
Television, Rangel said the possibility is an option for one
part of the radical opposition that seeks to end the
Bolivarian process.

Rangel referred to the constant subliminal messages used
by social networks, the exploitation of the alleged closure of
a television channel, and statements by Venezuelan right-wing
representatives abroad.

Such threats against the head of state are the basis for
the theories of assassination is a high-risk possibility, even
though Chavez` opponents publicly refute them, Rangel noted.

On this issue, Rangel noted the ability of the opposition
to hire assassins to execute their conspiracies.

He said groups linked to the military, especially retired
officials who were important during the Fourth Republic, are
trying to link Venezuelan opposition forces with the national
armed forces.
