Not writing off Tendulkar: Cook

Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar returned to form with a century in a Ranji match on Friday and visiting England skipper Alastair Cook said they are wary of the veteran Indian cricketer.
"We are certainly not writing Tendulkar off," Cook said at an event organised by Tata Motors` Jaguar Land Rover and Castrol here.
39-year-old Tendulkar was back to form ahead of the upcoming four-Test series against England with a century for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy Group A league opener against Railways here today. Tendulkar, in Mumbai colours after three years, came in at no 5 and batted fluently after starting cautiously against a largely inexperienced bowling attack to reach his hundred off 103 balls with 14 fours and 3 sixes. In India`s 4-0 drubbing in England last year, Tendulkar had scored 273 runs in four matches, with the highest score of 91 at the Oval in London. Cook`s teammate spinner Greame Swann said he would have loved to see former captains Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly in the Indian squad. "I would love Dravid and Ganguly still to be playing," Swann said. PTI
