Kosovo court releases man wanted in US on terrorism charges Pristina: A Kosovo court on Friday released a man wanted in the United States on terrorism charges only a day after he was arrested on an international warrant, an official said.

The district court in Mitrovica -- made up of local and international judges -- released Bajram Asllani pending the outcome of the process of his extradition to the United States, EU rule of law mission (EULEX) spokeswoman Kristiina Herodes told AFP.

Herodes said that the Kosovo Justice Ministry is to decide on his extradition to the United States in the coming days. Until then, Asllani "is ordered to report to the police twice a week," she said.

Kosovo's anti-terrorist police arrested Asllani, 29, acting on EULEX orders yesterday.

The mission said in a statement Asllani, or "Ebu Hatab," is charged in the US on two counts: "the provision of material support or resources to terrorists, support for terrorism and conspiracy to kill, kidnap, maim, or injure persons or damage property in a foreign country."

The US Department of Justice welcomed the arrest, saying that the United States "intends to seek his extradition from Kosovo to stand trial" there.

the eulex mission has already commented that the legal system in kosovo is broke. i am willing to bet that asllani will be out of kosovo be the end of this evening.
