Lawyers prevail in money fight with Brunei prince

Two British attorneys said Bolkiah owed them millions of dollars in fees.

New York: Two British attorneys have won a multi million-dollar tussle with Brunei`s Prince Jefri Bolkiah. They said he owed them millions of dollars in fees.

Husband-and-wife legal team Faith Zaman Derbyshire and Thomas Derbyshire could come away with more than USD 21 million after yesterday`s jury verdict in a New York court. The prince`s side is challenging the jury`s findings.

Jurors awarded Thomas Derbyshire more than USD 10 million in one piece of the case. Jurors also found for Faith Derbyshire on another issue worth USD 11 million. Both sides had agreed to that amount if she prevailed on that matter.
The jury awarded about USD 54,000 to the prince. He said the Derbyshires stole at least USD 7 million from him through various schemes.
