Macedonia detain captain over boat tragedy Ohrid: The captain of an ageing tourist boat which sank suddenly in Macedonia's popular Lake Ohrid, killing 15 Bulgarians, has been detained in connection with the accident, police said on Sunday.

Macedonian Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska had originally said that Sotir Filevski, 23, who is also the boat's owner, was among the dead but he was later declared to be among four survivors being treated at Ohrid hospital.

An investigating magistrate questioned Filevski after he was released from hospital late on Saturday, police spokesman Stefan Dimovski said, with the judge then ordering him held for 30 days pending an investigation.

A total of 55 Bulgarian tourists were on board the Ilinden when it suddenly veered and sank in the waters of the deepest lake in the region on Saturday, killing 15 of them, Sofia said.
