Malaysian cosmetics millionaire murdered: Police Kuala Lumpur: Missing cosmetics millionaire Sosilawati Lawiya and three of her associates were murdered and their ashes thrown into a river after the bodies were burnt, Malaysian police said on Sunday.

Sosilawati, 47, was reported missing on August 30 along with her driver, lawyer and a bank officer after they had gone to discuss a land deal in central Selangor state town. She was the founder of the popular Nouvelle Visages line of cosmetics.

A DNA analysis has to be done to fully determine the identity, they said.

Police have detained eight suspects in the case. Last Monday, police found her car in front of a hotel in one of the capital's suburbs.

Sosilawati's disappearance had grabbed front page headlines in local dailies for the past week.

Sosilawati and the three others were apparently murdered, burnt and their ashes were strewed in a river near Ladang Gadong, in Tanjong Sepat near Banting, they said.

CID director Mohd Bakri Zinin told reporters that the police were awaiting forensic confirmation.

He said that two lawyer brothers were among the eight arrested in connection with the murder.

The elder of the brothers, who owned the farm where the bodies were burnt, was handling a land deal in Penang for Sosilawati.

Sosilawati's siblings are in Banting to help police with the DNA confirmation of her death.

Bernama news agency said the police forensic team was combing the farm area where some of Sosilawati's personal belongings were reported to have been found.
