Mexico City: Mexican authorities unexpectedly transferred the drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to a prison in Ciudad Juarez on the US border Saturday morning, a source from the National Security Commission told AFP.
Guzman`s transfer, conducted under a large military security presence, was determined "solely by security protocols as part of a rotation of prisoners" that normally takes place, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
