Beirut: More than 9,300 people, including around 3,800 civilians, have been killed in one year of Russian air strikes in Syria in support of President Bashar al-Assad, a monitoring group said Friday.

The toll also includes more than 5,500 fighters from the Islamic State jihadist group and various rebel factions, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The Britain-based monitoring group had initially given an estimate of around 10,000 killed but later issued a detailed breakdown.
