Rabat: Morocco`s government says a terror cell with links to al Qaeda affiliates in North Africa and Syria has been dismantled.
In a statement on Friday, the country`s Interior Ministry said the cell`s four members were led by one of the most visible militants on jihadist websites.
He was said to have been directed by the leaders of al Qaeda`s North Africa affiliate to recruit Moroccans in anti-government attacks.
The statement said among those being recruited were Moroccans with links to al Qaeda fighters in Syria.
Today`s announcement brings the number of terror cells dismantled this year in Morocco to four, including two in May.
