A Moscow court Monday declared as extremist the anti-Islam US film "Innocence of Muslims".

Moscow: A Moscow court Monday declared as extremist the anti-Islam US film "Innocence of Muslims".

The announcement by Moscow`s Tverskoi Court came as the latest in a series of legal moves against the controversial movie in Russia.

The judge noted that anyone dissatisfied with the verdict will have the opportunity to appeal once the final ruling had been delivered. Monday`s conclusion comes ahead of the full ruling, expected Oct 5.

Last Friday, a court in Chechnya`s capital city of Grozny also ruled against the widespread distribution of the film.

The court had ordered that restrictions on the distribution of the film be implemented before the ruling formally comes into force, according to Chechnya`s Media Ministry.

Mobile network operators have agreed to carry out the court`s instructions.

The film "Innocence of Muslims", a brief video of which was released on YouTube, has triggered protests across the Muslim world in which dozens of people have been killed and injured.
