Myanmar president to attend Bangkok summit

 Myanmar President U Thein Sein will attend the 5th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in the Thai capital of Bangkok, it was announced Tuesday.



Yangon: Myanmar President U Thein Sein will attend the 5th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in the Thai capital of Bangkok, it was announced Tuesday.

The President will attend the two-day summit Dec 19-20, Xinhua reported.

Under the theme of "Committed to Inclusive and Sustainable Development in the GMS", the summit will comprise activities of GMS Investment Forum, GMS Youth Forum, Development Partners` Roundtable, GMS Business Forum and 5th Summit of Task Force`s Senior Officials` Meeting on the first day.

On the final day, there will be Leaders` Retreat meeting to discuss important GMS issues, challenges and future directions.

Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam are the members of the GMS.
