Kathmandu: At least 22 people were killed in different parts of Nepal over the past 48 hours due to the outbreak of cholera and flood.
Ten persons were killed as incessant rains battered the country triggering landslides and floods since Thursday.
Flood water inundated several houses leaving hundreds of families homeless.
Four persons of a family died when landslide buried their house in Thulo Lumpek village in Gulmi district yesterday.
Two persons were swept to death in Deukhari of Dang. Head constable of Nepal police Ram Bahadur died after being swept away in flood water while rescuing people.
In Darchula, 10-year-old Dhanmati Dhami was killed and two others went missing in the landslide.
Four and half year old Prabesh Kuwar of Devisthan village in Parbat and 70-year-old Prem Bahadur Karki of Bhorletar, Lamjung were also swept away in a local river yesterday.
In Kailali, flood water displaced 55 families while around 1,000 houses have been inundated in Kapilvastu.
Meanwhile, Cholera has claimed two more lives in Doti district in far-western Nepal, bringing the death toll to 12 since the outbreak of the disease about a month ago.
Majority of the cholera patients are children and elderly people.
According to media reports, locals accused the government of failing to act on time to check the spread of cholera.
