Baghdad: Al Qaeda in Iraq`s new leader is warning of "dark days soaked with blood" and says a new campaign of attacks has already begun.
The al Qaeda offshoot, the Islamic State of Iraq, named al-Nasser Lideen Allah Abu Suleiman as its new minister of war.
He replaces Abu Ayyub al-Masri, who was killed with another top al Qaeda leader, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, last month in a US-Iraqi military strike on a safe house.
In a statement posted on militant websites on Friday, Abu Suleiman says a new campaign of attacks on security and military checkpoints has started, but that it is just the beginning.
He warns Iraqi rulers of "long gloomy nights and dark days soaked with blood”.
