New York: A Metro-North passenger train, traveling from the Hudson Valley town of Poughkeepsie, derailed in the Bronx area of the New York City on Sunday morning. At least four people have been reported dead in the derailment incident.
Also the reports said that at least 67 other passengers were injured in the accident. CNN reported that 11 of the injured are in critical condition. About 100 firefighters have been pressed into service for rescue work.
Seven of the eight train cars came off the tracks. Some cars of the Metro-North train reportedly submerged in water after they derailed. Police divers are searching the water for survivors.
Metro-North Railroad said on Twitter that the Hudson Line service between Croton Harmon and GCT is temperarily suspended due to the derailment incident in the vicinity of Spuyten Duyvil.

Metro-North Railroad said that an alternate transportation through the area is being arranged. "Hudson Line train service provided to Tarrytown. Bus service from Tarrytown to White Plains for travel further south,(sic)" Metro-North tweeted.

The train derailed just as it was coming around a sharp curve. However, it is not yet clear how fast the train was going and number of passengers who were onboard.
Federal investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board have been rushed to the scene.
The train operator, who is among the injured, said the train didn`t stop even though he applied brakes, an official told.
