San Francisco: The death toll in a devastating fire at a Oakland warehouse dance party rose to 36 on Monday.
The inferno broke out when a dance party was underway on Friday night. The toll is expected to further rise.
The Fire department had to suspend the search and rescue work on Sunday as the structure was at risk of collapsing, AFP reported.
Citing Alameda County Deputy Sheriff Tya Modeste, the report said 11 of the 36 bodies were identified.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The warehouse, known as the Oakland Ghost Ship, was bustling with people, about 100 of them, when the tragedy struck.
The area around the site has been cordoned off for investigation.
