Washington: US President Barack Obama went on a surprise shopping trip for his wife and daughters in New York on Tuesday.

Obama visited the Gap store where he was assisted by the cheery saleswoman who helped him shop for his wife Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia.

Surrounded by posse of security guards, Obama bought a medium-sized zip-up blue athletic jacket for Michelle and admitted that it was difficult to shop for his wife.
He also bought two sweaters for her daughters in light pink and bright coral colours.

The protective father bought regular-cut neck long-sleeve button-down sweaters for her daughters as he feared that “the V-neck is going to slip.”

“I think the ladies will be impressed by my style sense,” Obama reportedly said.

He then went to the cash counter to pay for the clothes he bought and was told by the sales clerk that he is better-looking in person.
While signing the bill, Omaba jokingly said, “Oh wow, so you can sign the machine?”

He quickly added that he was just teasing.

The visit was a mark of appreciation on behalf of the US President after Gap Inc decided to raise the minimum wages to $9 an hour for the current year and $10 an hour for the coming year.

Obama`s visit to the store took place ahead of the big fundraiser for which he was visiting the city.
