Washington: US President Barack Obama today
signed into law the Defense Appropriations Act 2010, which
includes billions of dollars for Pakistan.
In all Pakistan would receive USD 1.7 billion in the next
one year under the USD 636.3 billion Defense Appropriations
Act 2010. This includes USD 700 million under the Pakistan
Counter-Insurgency Capability Fund.
Pakistan also expects to receive more than USD one
billion under the Coalition Support Fund, for the services
rendered by it in support of the coalition forces.
Pakistan has submitted a bill between USD 1.7 billion to
USD 1.8 billion, authorities said.
Obama signed the bill into law after the US Senate over
the weekend passed the bill 88-10. The House of
Representatives had passed it earlier by 395-34 votes.
Among other things, the bill includes USD 80 million to
acquire more unmanned 'Predator' drones.
