Washington: Amid declining popularity of Barack Obama over the last one year, a top Democratic Senator has said the US President would be re-elected overwhelmingly.
Chris Dodd also said the first African American president of the United States would be more successful than Jimmy Carter.
"This man will be reelected and reelected overwhelmingly," Dodd, who is Chairman of two powerful Senate Committees on Health and Banking, said yesterday in his appearance on Imus in the Morning, a radio show.
Dodd, also co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, rejected a comparison between Obama and Jimmy Carter and said Obama will be more political successful.
"No, no, no. You're wrong on that," Dodd told Imus of the Carter comparison.
In a recent interview, Obama had said that he would prefer to be a one-time president rather than being a two-term president of the country.
The popularity of Obama, who entered the White House riding a wave, has dropped considerably in the last one year.
