Washington: US President Barack Obama would travel to Indonesia and Australia in the second half of March, the White House has announced, adding that India is not on his current foreign travel plan.
"Not on this trip," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said yesterday when asked if the President has any plan to visit India.
On November 24 at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Obama said that he would be visiting India in 2010.
"The President and the first lady will be travelling to Indonesia and Australia in the second half of March. This trip is an important part of the President's continued effort to
broaden and strengthen the partnerships that are necessary, to advance our security and prosperity," Gibbs said at his daily news briefing.
He said Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country, the third largest democracy; is home to the largest Muslim population in the world and an important partner in the G-20.
