Washington: US President Barack Obama
has penned a book to educate children on 13 "groundbreaking
Americans" and the ideals that have shaped the country.

The book titled `Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My
Daughters` will hit stores on November 16, publisher Random
House said in a statement.

"President Obama sees the traits of these heroes
within his children, and within all of America`s children,"
the statement said.

Obama`s two daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, nine
inspired him to write the book.

In the book, Obama has written a moving tribute to
thirteen groundbreaking Americans and the ideals that have
shaped the United States from the artistry of Georgia
O`Keeffe, to the courage of Jackie Robinson, to the patriotism
of George Washington.

Announcing the publication of the book in New York,
Chip Gibson, president and publisher of Random House
Children`s Book, said the book is an inspiring marriage of
words and images, history and story.

"`Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters`
celebrates the characteristics that unite all Americans?the
potential to pursue our dreams and forge our own paths,"

With a 5000,000 copy print-run, the illustration in
the book is provided by the award-winning and New York Times`
bestselling artist Loren Long. The book was acquired and the
manuscript completed prior to Obama taking office in January
2009.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated
to a scholarship fund for the children of fallen and disabled
soldiers serving our nation.

Knopf Executive Editor Michelle Frey edited the book,
which was acquired from President Obama`s attorney, Robert B
Barnett.
