One killed, 5 injured in blast near hypermarket in Egypt

At least one person was killed and five others were injured today in a blast near a hypermarket in east of the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria.

Cairo: At least one person was killed and five others were injured today in a blast near a hypermarket in east of the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria.

According to immediate reports, two explosive devices were planted on the ground near the hypermarket and they went off when a bus passed over them, security officials said.

One person was killed and five others were critically injured in the blast, they added.

Yesterday, a bomb exploded?near a bank in one of the main streets in el-Mahalla city of Gharbiya governorate,?killing at least three policemen and injuring 16 others.

Egypt has witnessed many attacks targeting police and military personnel as well as civilians in the recent period.

The attacks have increased after the ouster of Islamist ex-president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.

Over 500 policemen and soldiers, have been killed in the attacks.
