Ousted Malian president, family fly to Senegal Dakar: Senegalese state radio reports that Mali's ousted president has left the country and flown to Senegal.

Amadou Toumani Toure was overthrown in a coup by mutinous soldiers nearly one month ago.

Senegalese radio reported early Friday that Toure and members of his family had arrived late Thursday by plane in the Senegalese capital of Dakar.

It was not immediately clear whether he would be staying in Senegal or transiting to another location.

Toure had gone into hiding after the coup in late March, and emerged only to hand in his resignation — a move intended to pave the way for an interim civilian government.

An interim president and prime minister have been named, but there are lingering concerns about the junta's ongoing role in politics.
