Polling stations in Haiti`s long-delayed legislative elections opened at 6:00 am local time (1000 GMT) Sunday, marking the first vote since President Michel Martelly came to power in May 2011.

Port au Prince: Polling stations in Haiti`s long-delayed legislative elections opened at 6:00 am local time (1000 GMT) Sunday, marking the first vote since President Michel Martelly came to power in May 2011.

After nearly four years of delays, Haiti`s 5.8 million voters are being asked to elect all members of the Caribbean nation`s Chamber of Deputies and two-thirds of its Senate. More than 1,800 candidates are jostling for 139 spots.
