Kiev: Ukraine`s new Western-backed leader on Tuesday called Russian President Vladimir Putin`s request for lawmakers to revoke a resolution allowing him to invade his western neighbour "the first practical step" toward peace.
In a statement, President Petro Poroshenko called it "the first practical step taken by the Russian president in the wake of his decision to officially support Ukraine`s settlement plan for the (eastern) Donbass region."
