Prince Harry, an Apache helicopter pilot, has been promoted to captain.

London: Prince Harry, an Apache helicopter pilot, has been promoted to captain.

Harry has served five years as an officer after a 44-week training course at Sandhurst in 2006.

The Sun quoted a St James`s Palace spokesperson as saying that he would now be known as Captain Harry Wales.

"Prince Harry has been promoted to captain within the Army Air Corps in recognition of time of service in the Armed Forces," he said.

He will now be in the pay band of 37,916 pounds to just over 45,000 pounds.

The prince had served for ten weeks in Afghanistan as a forward air controller during 2007-08.
