Pussy Riot to appeal sentence

The defence team of punk group Pussy Riot will next week appeal the two-year prison sentence for its three members.

Moscow: The defence team of punk group Pussy Riot will next week appeal the two-year prison sentence for its three members.
"Today, we received the copy of the court judgement, we will study it and appeal the verdict. We definitely won`t be able to complete it this week because of the large volume of the document and the number of violations it contains. We will analyse it in detail and make an appeal," lawyer Nikolai Polozov said Tuesday.
Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Maria Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, were convicted for staging an anti-Kremlin "punk prayer" in a central Moscow cathedral in February.

The three have already spent more than five months in pre-trial detention, which, according to Russian legislation, equals 10 months in prison.
