Queen Elizabeth in UAE on second state visit

Britain`s Queen Elizabeth II`s visit aims at promoting ties with the UAE.

Dubai: Britain`s Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip arrived in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday for her second state visit aimed at promoting ties with the UAE.

She reached Abu Dhabi at the invitation of the UAE President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in what is going to be her second state visit to the UAE - the first having taken place in 1979.

The Duke of York Prince Andrew, Foreign Secretary William Hague and a number of senior British officials are accompanying Her Majesty on this visit.

They were received by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Shaikh Mohammed said that the visit opens a new phase in the close relations of cooperation between the two countries and their people.
