London: Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge is due to have a baby any time soon and world media have descended outside St Mary`s Hospital to cover the royal birth.
Media from around the world have gathered outside the private Lindo Wing of St Mary`s Hospital in central London, where the baby is expected to be born. Prince William plans to be with his 31-year-old wife when she has their child at the hospital in Paddington, where his mother, Princess Diana, gave birth to him in June 1982. The cost of a suite at the unit is 6,265 pounds for a one-night stay with no complications and 2,200 pounds for each extra night. Based on a trouble-free three-night stay, Kate`s bill will top 10,000 pounds? and it is possible the Royal couple may have booked more than one suite, the Sun reported. All rooms have satellite TV, wi-fi, radio and a safe. The wing also offers a "comprehensive wine list." Fresh bouquets of flowers are delivered every day and blackout curtains ensure total privacy. Gynaecologists, paediatricians, midwives, nurses, breast -feeding consultants and nursery nurses are all on hand. If anything goes wrong, Kate can be whisked to the wealth of medical expertise next-door at St Mary`s, the report said. The Lindo wing opened in 1937. Queen Elizabeth II`s eldest granddaughter, Zara Phillips, who announced her own pregnancy this week was also born there in 1981. PTI
