Moscow: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday held a scheduled round of security talks with one of
China`s most senior foreign policy officials, the Kremlin
said.

The talks with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo,
who also serves as deputy foreign minister, were designed to
coordinate the neighbours` approach to outstanding security
issues, ITAR-TASS quoted a Kremlin official as saying.

The Kremlin said Medvedev and Dai focused on ways the
two countries could "strengthen notational, regional and
international security," without providing further details.

China`s Xinhua news agency reported out of Beijing
that the talks came as part of annual negotiations that the
two sides have been holding since 2005.
