Moscow: Russia and Britain have agreed on greater military cooperation in the near future, a top Russian official said.
"Relations between our military establishments will climb to a new level shortly," Russian General Staff chief Nikolai Makarov was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
Makarov said this after talks with visiting British general David Richards.
He said that after a long period of cold relations, cooperation between the defence ministries of the two countries had been set to a more active mode.
The two officers also discussed European security and the situation in Libya.
Richards said the two countries` military ties would be further developed, especially in the light of the ongoing efforts to stabilise the situation in Afghanistan.
